The Utica Police Department is investigating a possible homicide after responding to a domestic incident Thursday afternoon. Utica police and fire units were dispatched to 7 Devereux St. around 3 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a man inside an apartment and found a woman who appeared to be dead in a bedroom. The man was taken into custody and transported to the Utica Police Department.

A New York State Trooper was cleared of a December 2021 deadly shooting in Dolgeville, New York Attorney General Letitia James’ Office of Special Investigation (OSI) said Thursday in a statement. On Dec. 24, 2021, Carson Dobson allegedly broke into his mother's home and stabbed her several times before leaving. Officers located Dobson a short distance away, where authorities said he was armed with a knife and a sword.

The Uvalde Foundation for Kids has created an official GoFundMe for Jeff Lynch, the Proctor security guard who was shot in the back of his head Saturday while trying to break up a fight after a high school football game. School officials said Lynch is recovering well and may soon be released from the hospital. The Uvalde Foundation for Kids is a national nonprofit formed following the Uvalde, Texas school shooting on May 24, 2022.

A fatal motor vehicle crash on Seneca Turnpike, near the intersection of Woods Highway on Sunday, August 13, has resulted in a Vernon Center man being charged with traffic violations, the New Hartford Police Department said in a statement posted online. A Chevrolet HHR being driven by Judson Chandler, 64, of Vernon Center, was traveling westbound at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Seneca Turnpike in the right lane when Chandler began to make a U-Turn from the right lane.
