    Cook Out, the latest fast-food chain to join the Pensacola region, is slated to open its doors in early July. On-site representatives of the chain told the News Journal that Pensacola’s first Cook Out restaurant is tentatively scheduled to open on the corner of Baldridge and Nine Mile Road on July 7. Contractors finished paving the restaurant’s parking lot as well as its entryways after putting up the chain’s signature signage in recent weeks.

    A new 7 Brew Coffee could come to the Ferry Pass Plaza off North Davis Highway after a development proposal to build another coffee shop was filed with Escambia County this week. The developers behind the proposal want to build a 540-square-foot building, along with two drive-through lanes, a 230-square-foot cooler and eight parking spots for employees. They plan to build the coffee shop in the parking lot of the plaza at 8102 N. Davis Highway next to the plaza’s CVS convenience store.

    Cook Out is the latest fast-food addition to East Nine Mile Road and it’s kept the Pensacola community buzzing since developers broke ground on the restaurant earlier in the year. Cook Out is touted in towns across the southeast U.S. for its inexpensive burgers, shakes and various barbeque items as well as its availability throughout the night.

    Downtown Pensacola visitors likely noticed a new construction project underway on West Garden Street as Jewelers Trade Shop recently broke ground on its new store. The new Jewelers Trade Shop will be an 11,500-square-foot venue at 150 W. Garden St. and feature extra space for customers and staff, as well as a wider inventory of jewelry to choose from. The incoming store is planned to transform a parking lot on the corner of West Garden Street and North Spring Street into a thriving commercial hub.
