    NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City is temporarily pausing fines on smaller buildings found not composting, city officials said Thursday. Effective immediately, compost fines will not affect buildings under 30 units in New York City, according to the mayor’s office. Buildings with more than 30 units that have received more than four warnings from the sanitation department will still be fined $100 for not composting, according to the mayor’s office.

The New York City Department of Transportation has now added a small traffic light for bikes on Third Avenue and East 69th Street. More will be installed in the coming weeks. The signals are five feet off the ground at the cyclist’s eye level.

(PIX11) – The three men who removed a manhole cover and decided to explore the New York City sewer were looking for gold and other jewelry, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday.  On Monday, four individuals removed the manhole cover near 17th Avenue and 82nd Street in Bensonhurst. Three males climbed inside the opening while a fourth person stayed above ground, authorities said.

    BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The NYPD is now reviewing surveillance video of a bizarre incident in Brooklyn. The video obtained by PIX11 News shows five people wearing safety vests stopping traffic on 17th Avenue near 82nd Street in Bensonhurst. The crew then uses metal tools to lift a manhole cover, and at least 3 people enter the sewer system.
