In January of 2000, an extraordinary winter storm brought record-breaking snowfall in what was a wild onset to a new era for the Triangle. It’s a phenomenon we haven’t seen since and may never see again. Intense snowfall, strong winds and waist-high accumulation were all parts of a rare blizzard that many were astonished to see. The start of a new year and a new decade brought an unforeseen happening that showed the future was here. But we got off on the wrong foot – of snow.
