    East Central softball's remarkable season will continue, as the Lady Hornets punched their ticket to the South State Championship with a 4-1 win over North Pike on Monday afternoon. The Lady Hornets scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Abby Danis drove in a pair of runs on a double, and Elizabeth Kennedy added a solo home run. ECHS added its fourth and final run of the game in the second frame, as Breyona Tanner scored from third base on a wild pitch.

    The second round of the MHSAA 6A softball playoffs featured a Coast vs. Coast showdown, as Pearl River Central hosted Hancock to kick off the series. The Lady Hawks jumped ahead 1-0 in the second inning and never looked back, ending the night with the shutout 5-0 victory following Teegan DeWitt's stellar performance in the circle.

    Ocean Springs used a big second inning to survive and advance in the MHSAA playoffs, defeating Northwest Rankin 6-5 on Tuesday night. The Cougars struck first with a run in the opening inning, but the Greyhounds quickly put bat to ball and took advantage of a handful of errors to string together a four-run second inning. The visiting squad managed to tie things up at 4 runs apiece late in the game, before Ocean Springs pulled away for good.

    ESCATAWPA, Miss (WXXV) - Every month, WXXV teams up with Huntington Learning Center to honor a deserving teacher in South Mississippi. April's outstanding educator is Nedra McGee, a special education teacher at Escatawpa Upper Elementary who has spent decades teaching at every grade level. McGee was nominated by Alexis Ashford, who highlighted her determination and loving nature. "Mrs. McGee teaches a self-contained special education class at the upper elementary," Ashford said in her nomination.
