The production of Cinderella will start on Saturday November 29, and runs until Sunday January 4. The UK’s oldest polar bear Victoria has died at age 28, the Highland Wildlife Park has announced. The much-loved resident of the Kincraig park had been experiencing age-related health problems for several months. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) confirmed she was receiving geriatric care back in December. As her quality of life and wellbeing continued to decline, the charity’s vets advised Victoria should be put to sleep.

Anyone passing Port of Aberdeen yesterday may have noticed an almost-200ft warship sailing into the harbour. The impressive S/S Hestmanden is visiting the Granite City as part of Liberation Convoy – a month-long journey across the North Sea. She is one of five Norwegian vessels taking part in the project to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. “This is the first time she has left Norway in 60 years,” historian Ragnhild Bie told The Press and Journal.

The head teacher of an Aberdeenshire primary school has said staff will “remain vigilant” following a knife incident. Police were called to Laurencekirk School on Friday after receiving reports of a pupil in possession of a knife. The incident allegedly involved a “craft knife” and took place within the school playground. Officers confirmed a pupil was charged in connection and reported to Youth Justice Management.
