When Ali Jobe walked into the gates of Parkfield Youth with his five-year-old son over 20 years ago, he didn’t know the part he would go on to play in the club’s legacy. From being a keen parent, to a coach with FA badges, to now chairman and secretary, Ali knows first-hand the impact the Hatch End-based club has had on families in the area. On Sunday, July 20, he will be joined by current and ex-players, officials, and parents to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club.

The Croxley community brought history to life with a VE Day 80th anniversary picnic to acknowledge “community spirit, remembrance, and living history.”On Saturday, May 10, the Croxley Green Parish Council invited residents along to the celebration on The Green. Catching the eye of passers-by was local resident Barry Read and his restored Bren Gun Carrier, a British Army Carrier once used for infantry support.

Hundreds of residents from Kings Langley and beyond kicked off this year’s festival season at an event that championed local performers and businesses. ChippStock Festival took place at Blackwells on Chipperfield Common on Sunday, May 25. The event was sponsored by Gaffer Hemel and gave talented local artists the chance to shine in the spotlight. Now in its third year, the festival was created by music promoter Luke Hinton and his wife Rachael.

A group of Bushey students have won an award at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge tournament in the London North West region. On Tuesday, April 15, the team from St Margaret’s School took their LEGO creations and innovation projects to the Bosch UK headquarters to put their STEM skills to the test. Taking part in a mission-based robotics game, the team competed against each other and the clock, striving to complete as many missions as possible within a two-and-a-half-minute round.

Tony Franks, the captain of Hartsbourne Country Club in Bushey, has set out on a mission to raise £50,000 for a local school. Any money raised will go towards a Variety Golf Sunshine Coach for Haywood School Grove in Hemel Hempstead, which caters for primary-aged children who have extremely complex needs. Tony will be leading multiple events to bring the community together for this brilliant cause.
