    A key access route for Portland’s Washington Park is closed indefinitely after a March 29 landslide sent bowling ball-sized rocks tumbling onto the roadway below. The Portland Bureau of Transportation said Southwest Tichner Drive between Burnside Street and Kingston Avenue would be closed indefinitely. They urged drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to obey posted barriers, saying another side could occur without warning.

    Nearly 30,000 pounds of beef sticks made by Idaho Smokehouse Partners and sold at retailers including Costco have been recalled because they might contain pieces of metal. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the recall includes 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages of Chomps Original Beef Sticks in the “mild” variety. Affected products are marked with an expiration date of 02-10-2026 and lot code 25016. At least two customers reported finding metal in the snacks, though no injuries have been reported.

    The Oregonian/OregonLive is now accepting applications for the 2025 High School Journalism Institute, an annual training program for students presented in collaboration with Oregon State University. This year’s program will be held July 12-19, 2025, at the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis. The online application and eligibility criteria are at oregonhsji.org/apply. The deadline to apply is May 5, but students are encouraged to apply early.

    Tesla is recalling 46,000 Cybertrucks to replace stainless steel panels that can detach and fall off of the vehicle. The company issued the recall Tuesday. It includes both the 2024 model year — the vehicle’s first release — and 2025. A recall notice said the “cant rail,” an exterior trim panel, can “delaminate,” or come unglued.

    A Washington state seafood company is recalling two varieties of chowder sold at stores in the West and nationwide online. SeaBear Co., based in Anacortes, Washington, is recalling its Alehouse Clam Chowder and Smoked Salmon Chowder sold in dark blue 12-ounce pouches between Oct. 1, 2024, and March 14, 2025. The products have “enjoy by” dates that range from June 2028 and January 2029.
