Cascada Thermal Springs and Hotel is a newly constructed spa and hotel in the center of the lively Alberta Arts District, just a few blocks from the popular brunch spot Tin Shed Garden Cafe. It’s hard to miss: Cascada takes up an entire block between Northeast 11th and 12th avenues. While the hotel has 100 rooms, with various high-tech lighting and temperature control features, the real draws — particularly for locals — are the soaking pools and spa.

Chief among them is our new co-host, Chiara Profenna, the religion, faith and cultural connections reporter for The Oregonian/OregonLive, who will be replacing longtime co-host Vickie Connor. As we welcome Chiara to Peak Northwest, we bid a fond farewell to Vickie, who has been with the show for nearly three years.
