On Thursday night, Millcreek residents will get a chance to hear plans for the Zem Zem Shrine Club property and share their thoughts on if the space should be purchased ahead of a vote from the township supervisors. There will be a presentation of data and reference materials as well. Kim Clear, one of the three township supervisors said they want to use this space as a community center. They want to have this be a place for meetings, classes, parties, and events.

The warm weather snuck up on Erie this summer, which has HVAC repair people racing from one job to the next for emergencies and yearly maintenance. Rick Reeves of Reeve's Plumbing and Heating said they are just as busy in the summer fixing A/C units as they are in the winter repairing furnaces. "It's easier to do the air conditioning calls, and I'll tell you why, it's just easier to get around without the snow.

Ember and Forge teamed up with the Erie Downtown Partnership to provide water and cooling resources to those trying to stay cool in the heat. Rie Witherow, a barista at Ember and Forge and the organizer said, "This may be the first heat wave of the summer, but it's not going to be the last."Witherow wanted to do something to help people struggling in the heat, so she organized a water and hydration collection to pass out to people in Downtown Erie.

The heat on Sunday didn't stop children from learning basic soccer skills with a Go Play Day. Sunday's event with the Erie Sports Commission and Dick's Sporting Goods also served as a good reminder about the importance of staying hydrated in hot temperatures. Not only could kids learn important soccer skills that they can build off of, but they also learned skills to staying hydrating, especially when it comes to warm weather.
