A man was killed and a woman seriously injured south of Carey on Monday evening after the vehicle they were traveling in rolled and caught fire, ejecting them, authorities said. The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office along with Carey Fire & Rescue, Hailey Fire & Rescue and BC South Fire Protection District were dispatched to the accident near milepost 198 on U.S. 26, near the Silver Creek bridge, at about 5:32 p.m., according to BC South Chief Ron Bateman.

Jerome County man faces rape, child sex abuse charges

A Jerome County man facing 10 felony charges for alleged crimes against children has pleaded not guilty to two of those charges, filed in Blaine County. Shane Steven Shockey, 48, of Eden, pleaded not guilty to one count of felony rape of a minor under 16 and one count of felony lewd conduct with a child under 16 during an arraignment in 5th District Court in Hailey on March 12. His pair of pleas prompted 5th District Judge Ned Williamson to set a four-day jury trial, scheduled to begin on June 10.
