EUSTIS, Fla. - The Eustis Police Department plans to seek federal funding to add more officers to its ranks as the city experiences significant population growth. Eustis Police Chief Craig Capri said he is trying to plan for the future by adding three officers to bring the department up to 50 sworn officers. Capri said he's hoping to use a Community Oriented Policing Services grant through the U.S. Department of Justice to help pay for those positions.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Lake County officials have reached a purchase agreement for land needed to repair Britt Road, a crucial thoroughfare that has remained closed since Hurricane Milton struck in October 2024. Commissioner Leslie Campione announced the breakthrough this week, marking a significant step toward repairing the road. "Initially the landowner wasn't necessarily willing to work with us, and we knew we needed additional property to do this correctly," Campione said.

We asked John Williams, who was out picking up his groceries on Sunday, to tell us how he feels about the economy right now. "It's not good, to be honest with you," Williams said. "Everything is kind of tight."Williams looks for the basics when he shops, such as meat, dairy and bread, but he said that because prices are so high, he's not able to spend as much as he used to.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Passengers at Orlando International Airport dealt with more delays after a ground stop was issued on Saturday. The ground stop was extended to 9 a.m. after being issued shortly past 6 a.m. This comes after multiple ground stops due to weather on Friday at MCO. On the flight board, several flights were listed as delayed Saturday morning. Laura Mays was traveling with her family to Jamaica and said she was glad they got there three hours early. "They didn't want to," Mays said.
