ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) - A new golf cart law in South Carolina aims to improve safety for passengers, especially kids. The new statewide law is effective immediately and prohibits children under the age of 12 from riding in a golf cart without a seatbelt. Golf carts are a popular mode of transportation in the Lowcountry to get to the beach, the pool, or around the neighborhood, but when not used properly, they can be extremely dangerous.

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) - Human skeletal remains found in a historically significant area of Edisto Island have sparked national attention. The remains were discovered by tourists at the Jeremy Cay community near Legare Road, which was once the site of Edingsville Beach, a long-lost 19th-century settlement that was destroyed by a hurricane in 1893. "Edingsville is significant in several ways: one, it's gone," said Gretchen M. Smith, the Director of Edisto Island Historic Preservation Society.

Monday morning, Dorchester County honored their heroes and their families in a remembrance ceremony, to commemorate those who gave their lives to service. Keynote speaker retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Robert Ticknor spoke of the history of Memorial Day and read the names of those from the Summerville area who died in conflicts from World War one to present day.
