NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A road rage dispute led to a Tuesday afternoon shooting in North Charleston, police say. Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to a Sunoco on Ashley Phosphate Road around 5:30 p.m. for a shooting. It was determined through an investigation that the occupants of two vehicles engaged in a dispute over erratic driving on Dorchester Road near Patriot Boulevard.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A man out on bond for murder, attempted murder, and domestic violence will spend the next 20 years in federal prison for having a gun and ammunition despite a previous conviction. Officers with the Charleston Police Department were patrolling a high-crime area in February 2023 when they encountered 33-year-old Mark Lee Frasier. When he saw the police, he ran from the car until he reached a dead-end street, but was quickly apprehended.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A 45-year-old Charleston man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for a weapons violation. Claude Michael Barrs pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina. Barrs was stopped by a Berkeley County Sheriff's deputy on September 29, 2023, after they observed him driving erratically, officials said.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston Police Department announced Tuesday the death of a retired police K9 named Hektor. K9 Hektor and his partner, Master Police Officer Hall, have served the citizens of Charleston for seven years before retiring in 2022. Hektor assisted with drug seizures, tracking wanted and often violent criminals, and provided safety for CPD officers with over 1,200 deployments. He also worked alongside the CPD SWAT team, Major Warrants Unit, and U.S. Marshals Task Force.
