HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A man with previous convictions for child pornography and possession of explosives has been arrested following a search of his Hadley home on Tuesday. According to federal court documents, 43-year-old Jacob D. Miller is facing a federal charge of unlawful possession of ammunition and firearms by a person previously convicted of a crime.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The much-talked-about potential Target store at the Springfield Crossing development is becoming a reality. Target filed paperwork with the Hampden County Registry of Deeds last week. The retailer paid $175,000 for a parcel of land at the Boston Road site, which was formerly the home of the Eastfield Mall. The Eastfield Mall has been closed for over two years.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Thunderbirds are punching their ticket to the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs!They clinched a playoff berth Sunday after the Hartford Wolf Pack lost to the Hershey Bears. Playoffs begin on April 21, two days after the regular season wraps up. Meanwhile, the T-Birds are still pushing to improve their position in the Atlantic Division. They’re currently in fifth place, the top two seeds will receive a bye to the Atlantic Division semifinals.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The City of Springfield will have to pay more than $500,000 to a Black Springfield Police Captain who says he was passed over for a promotion in favor of white candidates. A Hampden Superior Court Jury ruled last week in favor of Captain Reginald Miller in his lawsuit against the city. Miller alleged that back in 2020, while he was still a lieutenant, he was passed over for a captain’s position, despite being the next person on the list to receive the promotion.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A federal court has denied a request by one of three men convicted in a Berkshire County triple murder to have his conviction overturned. David Chalue was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and witness intimidation in the 2011 killings of David Glasser, Edward Frampton, and Robert Chadwell. Chalue filed a petition with the federal court saying that his 6th Amendment rights were violated during his trial in 2014.
