Another rain event and flooding from inland Queensland are expected to affect the north and west of NSW. The heavy rain predicted to fall on already sodden catchments could lead to fast river rises and flash flooding. The NSW SES says communities in the north and west of NSW should prepare for another round of floods and isolation.

Family and friends of a man feared swept away in floodwaters on the New South Wales North Coast have joined the search to find him. A 53-year-old Queensland man was in a ute near Limpinwood, just south of the Queensland border, west of Murwillumbah, and attempted to cross a causeway. Tweed-Byron Police District Inspector Matt Woods said floodwaters swept the ute away at 9:15pm on Saturday and the search began shortly afterwards. Police found the vehicle empty about 400 metres downstream.

After hearing about a spate of break and enters and stolen cars, the Ballina Shire mayor is calling for firm and proactive steps to tackle youth crime. Sharon Cadwallader made a stand outside Lismore courthouse on Friday, saying the community was fed up.
