Sean McGovern, a man suspected of being one of the leaders of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group, spent last night in prison after his extradition from Dubai. The 39-year-old, formerly of Kildare Road, Crumlin, Dublin, was brought back to Ireland on a military aircraft to face a murder charge. He was arrested in Dubai last October and extradited back to Ireland yesterday, arriving at Casement Aerodrome in Dublin on an Irish Air Corps Airbus at about 6.30pm.

A senior member of the Kinahan gang is on his way back to Ireland after being extradited from Dubai. Sean McGovern has been described as one of Ireland's most wanted fugitives by Interpol. In an historic move, the 39 year-old has become the first person to be extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Ireland.

Dublin will need €70 billion invested in the likes of housing, transport and climate risk over the next 15 years. That's according to KPMG, which has surveyed hundreds of businesses to evaluate the city as a place to live, work and do business. The company's Dublin 2040 report has infrastructure, including affordable housing, as the most important area for improvement in the capital, at 24 per cent. 60 per cent of businesses cited housing as the biggest challenge.

Dozens of people have been hospitalised after a car hit crowds in Liverpool during the football club's premier league victory parade. It happened in the city centre yesterday evening. An open-top bus, with players showing off their trophy to tens of thousands of fans, had passed through Water Street just 20 minutes beforehand. Four children are among 27 people who were taken to hospital while 20 people were treated at the scene. Our thoughts are with the people of Liverpool this evening.

A gun has been seized during a raid in north Dublin. A number of other weapons, including knives and baseball bats, were also found during a search in Ballymun yesterday, along with ammunition. It was carried out as part of Operation Tara which aims to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks. Officers attached to the Serious Crime West and DMR North Units were among those involved. A quantity of drugs, including cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis, was also found.
