The daughter of an Aboyne firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty says she is “thankful” her dad won’t be forgotten by history. Saturday marked the 60th anniversary of the death of Dudley Hamish Grant, then Aboyne’s leading fireman. Affectionately known as Hamish by friends and family, he was just three days shy of his 37th birthday when he died. The firefighter lost his life after a fire engine crash near Craigievar in 1965.

N-Trance and Baccara have both spoken about their “brilliant” time staying in Elgin and performing at MacMoray. The groups took to the stage in Elgin’s Cooper Park on Sunday as thousands danced along to their music. N-Trance members Tricia McTeague, Jay McCurdy and DJ Junior K told the Press and Journal they would come back to MacMoray “in a heartbeat”. The British music group added that a “piece of their heart” was now in Elgin.

911 say they would ‘love to return’ to MacMoray as they spoke about how they spent their time in the area – including a sight-seeing trip to Lossiemouth. Pop group 911 wowed crowds at Cooper Park on Sunday afternoon. Members Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Spike Dawbarn all said it was “fantastic” to be back in Scotland. The trio played hits like Body Shakin’, Love Sensation and I Do as thousands danced along to the songs.

A beautiful Aberdeenshire estate with three residential properties has hit the market. Byth Estate, near Crudie, is located in the countryside with the backdrop of the Cairngorm mountain range. Extending to about 377 acres, there are three residential properties on the estate, together with several useful farm buildings. The principal home is Byth House, which offers three reception rooms and four bedrooms.

Thousands packed Cooper Park for the second day of the MacMoray festival – and our photographer was there to capture the best pictures. Festival-goers gathered in Cooper Park on Sunday for what many thought would be the “final MacMoray”. Thousands danced to a line-up that included 911, N-Trance as well as Nathan Evans and the Saint PHNX Band. To close the night, following a dramatic film created by his team, organiser Andy MacDonald made the announcement that the festival will continue.
