Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced that flags on state buildings will be flown at half-staff on Thursday, May 29, in honor of retired New York State Police First Sergeant Michael E. Snell. Snell passed away at the age of 56 on Tuesday, May 20, due to an illness stemming from his time in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Islanders have contributed to the re-election campaign of Mayor Eric Adams to the tune of more than $150,000. Adams, whose first term as mayor has been mired in controversy amid allegations of bribery, conspiracy and fraud, has raised nearly $5 million in campaign contributions for his re-election run, according to New York City Campaign Finance Board data.
