A young man was killed, and a 9-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were injured in a Wilmington shooting on the evening of May 8. Police were called to the 800 block of E. 22nd St. about 6:45 p.m. for reports of the shooting. There, they found a 21-year-old man critically hurt and the two others injured, Wilmington police said. The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he died. The girl and the young woman were listed as "stable," police said.

A double shooting outside a Dover pub early May 4 leaves one man dead, city police said. No arrests have been reported. The shooting occurred about 1:10 a.m. as Dover police said a large group formed in the parking lot of McGlynns Pub, located at 800 N. State St.Someone fired several shots at the group, hitting two men, ages 21 and 22. Arriving officers found the wounded men who had multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

A 44-year-old man who was fatally shot by officers after Delaware State Police said he charged at them with a knife has been identified as Gregory Painter. Painter, of Milford, was fatally wounded on May 1 when troopers responded to Route 9 (Lewes-Georgetown Highway) near Harbeson Road after receiving several 911 calls just before 4 p.m. about a possible impaired driver, police said.

A 24-year-old University of Delaware graduate student killed after a fleeing U-Haul van sped down Newark's Main Street, plowing into a handful of people and cars, has been identified by city police as Marina Vasconcelos. Vasconcelos, of Northeast, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene after police said she was hit on April 29 by a stolen van that was driven by Gordon Turner. The 22-year-old New Castle man is facing several crimes, including two counts of second-degree attempted murder.
