Matthew Eales was running the drivers arm of Imperial Recruitment Group in Darlington in 2020, when he decided to keep one client account away from other staff.

    A record shop owner who was stabbed with a loaded needle may never know why one of his customers tried to kill him. Darren Harris, 58, injected shop owner Gary Lewis with the paralysing drug rocuronium, on July 2 last year. Harris had driven from Middlesbrough to visit Betterdaze, in Northallerton. He left the shop after buying a record, but returned minutes later to buy another one. He made small talk with Gary Lewis and Mr Lewis' friend and employee, Sue Allen - telling them he was a nurse.

    Four men and two youths have appeared in court to deny a murder charge. Jordan Hogg, 28, died in the early hours of February 28, after he was stabbed on Fonteyn Court in Hemlington, Middlesbrough. On Friday, the six charged with Mr Hogg's murder appeared at Newcastle Crown Court to enter their pleas. Michael Charville, 43, of no fixed address pleaded not guilty to murder; and not guilty to the possession of an offensive weapon - a stanley knife - on Oak Hill in Coulby Newham on February 28.

    A 19-year old who raped a teenage girl has been sent to a young offenders' institute for four-years. Leon Latham attacked his victim a number of years ago. He denied two counts of rape, but was found guilty by a jury, after standing trial in November. A statement from the victim was read out in court. She said that she suffers from "flashbacks and nightmares all the time". On Monday, Latham appeared in courton video link from prison, to be sentenced.

    A Hartlepool man been found not guilty of rape. Chris Calvert, of of Elizabeth Way in Seaton Carew, was free to leave Teesside Crown Court after a jury returned it's verdict on Friday. Mr Calvert, 50, always denied the allegation - insisting that no sexual activity took place between him and the woman. He was accused of raping a woman after a night out in Marmaris, Turkey, a number of years ago. He was found not guilty by the jury.
