As the adage goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and at Art for Aid, your junk is their joy. On Sunday, Nov. 17, the grassroots pop-up held its fourth annual Food Justice & Action Fair in their usual hangout of the Riverdale Temple parking lot, courtesy of the Riverdale Y. Founded by Rick Feldman in 2015, Art for Aid was born out of a desire to help those suffering from a natural disaster that devastated a small Caribbean island back in 2010.

In the early morning of Dec. 13, 2023, a fire ripped through 231st Street, between Broadway and Godwin Terrace, leaving several storefronts charred shells of their former selves. But late last month, a mainstay of the neighborhood showed signs of life -- Columbia Florist was open for business with bright sunflowers and roses, ready for sale.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, Donald J. Trump held a rally at Madison Square Garden as part of his presidential campaign. And while the former president normally does a great job of sticking his own foot in his mouth, this time around, the hate-speech spewed from the lips of others, including stand-up comic, Tony Hinchliffe. The cheshire-grinned, Ohio-native, walked onto the stage wearing a suit and tie, blowing kisses at the rally-goers.
