    LAFAYETTE ― McCutcheon doubles tennis partners Madalyn Cheesman and Harrison high jumper Jacob Schwartz were voted the Journal & Courier Athletes of the Week. The duo of Cheesman and Goodrick received the most votes among candidates with 23,302 votes and Schwartz earned the most male votes with 12,034 votes and has earned the recognition for the second consecutive week. The two lifelong friends met on the playground as kindergartners at Mintonye Elementary School and played basketball on the same team as third graders.     WEST LAFAYETTE ― Harrison softball will have to wait to complete its postseason surge after a tantalizing offensive display against Noblesville through five innings in the IHSAA class 4A regional championship. Play in West Lafayette was postponed Wednesday evening, June 4 after a rainstorm pelted the softball field and left the infield unplayable. But the damage by Harrison (10-12) was thorough.

    WEST LAFAYETTE — Former McCutcheon guard Brody Baker has transferred to Harrison, his father James confirmed to the Journal & Courier on Wednesday morning. The 5-foot-10 Baker was named to the Journal & Courier Big Schools All-Area first team as a sophomore after he averaged 20.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists and shot 52% and 53% from 3-point range. Led by Baker, McCutcheon improved from 5-21 in 2023-24 from 13-9 this past season.
