Southwest Regional Water District officials say samples of water from their system have passed testing requirements and water is now safe to consume.

(Anita) -- One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Cass County early Friday morning. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred on westbound Interstate 80 near the 63 mile marker shortly after 1 a.m. Authorities say a 2023 Kenworth semi, driven by 35-year-old Jegdeep Singh of New York, was westbound in the right lane when it struck the rear of a westbound 2018 Freightliner semi, driven by 60-year-old Andre Steadman of Florida.
Tabor Hometown Pride nearing fundraising goal for new splash pad

(Tabor) -- A local community betterment organization is nearing a major fundraising goal for a new recreational opportunity for youth in Tabor. Tabor Hometown Pride has been raising funds for the last several months on a new 60-foot by 40-foot splash pad at the Tabor Park, allowing for eight "features" and several jets and "bubblers." Angie Alley is a member of the Tabor Hometown Pride Committee.
Glenwood council hears continued calls to not cut library funding

(Glenwood) -- Glenwood residents continue to voice their opposition to proposed cuts in library funding and staffing. During the Glenwood City Council meeting earlier this week, several residents spoke during the public comment period voicing concerns over the removal of two of the Glenwood Public Library's five staff members in the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget, which begins July 1st.

Vehicle catches fire in Red Oak Thursday

(Red Oak) -- Fire crews responded to a vehicle fire on the east end of Red Oak Thursday afternoon. Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says his crews were dispatched at around 2:50 p.m. to 1903 East Summit Street for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant fire coming from the vehicle's engine compartment. Bruce says the fire was quickly extinguished without incident.
Temporary service disruption, boil order planned for some Southwest Regional Water District customers early next week

(Clarinda) -- Rural water customers in parts of Page and Taylor counties are advised of an upcoming temporary disruption in service and subsequent boil order as repairs are finalized early next week. The Southwest Regional Water District says crews will be finalizing the permanent repair of the East Nodaway River crossing on Monday, with the water going off at 8 a.m. Officials say while the bore is tied-in upon the return of service, a boil advisory will be in effect until further notice.

The Board of Directors for the Iowa West Foundation recently approved $3.9 million in grants and initiatives, foundation officials announced in a release recently. More than $500,000 will support arts and sports entertainment events, while upwards of $2 million will contribute to creating and rehabbing housing units.
Worth County bridge deck replacements to begin later this month

(Grant City) -- Worth County motorists are advised of bridge deck replacements expected to begin later this month. The Missouri Department of Transportation says they have contracted Capital Paving and Construction, LLC to replace the decks of two bridges in Worth County and one in Gentry County, beginning with the East Fork Grand River Bridge on Worth County Route M, starting Monday April 21st.
Server issues limiting services at some Montgomery County departments

(Red Oak) -- A server issue is currently limiting services available with some Montgomery County departments. Montgomery County Auditor Jill Ozuna announced Thursday morning that the county auditor, treasurer, assessor, and public health are currently unable to provide certain services due to servers being down. Ozuna says the issue began early Wednesday morning and could continue into Friday.
