LINCOLN, Neb. - Often times, change is inevitable. But sometimes change can be accompanied by growth or expansion - such is the case for 8-Man football in Nebraska. A third eight-man class will be debuted at the start of the 2026 high school football season. This means a ninth game in the regular season and a 16-team playoff which will include Friday night games.

BEATRICE, Neb. - A fundraiser seventeen years in the making took on another year Wednesday afternoon. The Empty Bowl Soup Luncheon took place at the Vintage Venue in downtown Beatrice with the goal being to raise funds for the Beatrice Backpack program. Patti Kaufmann is a co-coordinator for the luncheon and spoke about the Beatrice Backpack program. "We feed kids for the weekend," Kaufmann said. "We send home a backpack with an estimate of about five meals to feed their family for the weekend.

SPRINGFIELD, Neb. - Beatrice's bid to repeat as Trailblazer Conference Tournament champions was ended on Monday evening. Platteview topped Beatrice 3-1 in round one of the TBC Tournament behind a dominant day on the mound from Bryson Banks, as the Platteview starter tossed a complete game allowing one run on one hit. Beatrice's only hit was a triple for Kale Koch - he later scored that inning on an RBI sacrafice groundout by Austin Baldwin.
