The McClatchy Company is an American publishing firm that is publicly traded and headquartered in Sacramento, California. It publishes 30 daily newspapers across 15 states, enjoying an average weekday circulation of 2.2 million and a Sunday circulation of 2.8 million. In 2006, McClatchy expanded its reach by acquiring Knight Ridder, which was the second-largest newspaper publisher in the U.S. at that time, following Gannett. Besides its daily newspapers, McClatchy also runs various websites and community publications.
