PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A Portland program that has helped contractors navigate the city’s complex permitting system is no longer accepting new applications, frustrating builders who say it’s critical to staying competitive. The Field Issuance Remodel program — known as FIR — assigns contractors a single master inspector who can sign off on nearly every aspect of a remodel. It’s been a game changer for companies like Lamont Bros., which specializes in home remodels across the Portland metro.

(InvestigateTV) — Theft is nothing new to retailers, big and small. In a matter of seconds, thieves shatter the glass of a storefront and make off with anything they can carry. The smash and grab is still a common way retailers lose thousands of dollars. Even retail giants are not immune to theft. In 2023, Target said it added more team members, used third-party guard services and implemented theft deterrent tools, but still faced challenges. They even had to close store locations.
