Fifty years ago, on April 30, 1975, the city of Saigon in South Vietnam was captured by the North, marking the end of the Vietnam War. Just days before, 12-year-old Tan Pham, along with his parents and three siblings, were evacuated from the war-ravaged country. Now, 50 years later, Pham acts as a cultural ambassador, leading tour groups to experience the food and culture of Vietnam firsthand through his company, Cuisine Adventure Tours.

In-person absentee voting is now open in the race to decide who will become the next mayor of La Crosse. Voters can turn in absentee ballots in advance, or vote in person on Election Day, Tuesday, April 1. Regardless of the outcome, the results of the election will make history. Chris Kahlow is the current president of the La Crosse Common Council and has been a business owner and real estate investor. If elected, she would become the first woman to be the city's chief executive.

La Crosse residents are already filling out absentee ballots and casting early votes ahead of the primary election on Feb. 18. In addition to the statewide race for the state superintendent and an open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, La Crosse residents will cast votes for mayor, city council and more. With four candidates in the nonpartisan mayoral primary, the top two will face each other in the general election on April 1st.

The short, independent drama " February" is the second film in director Nathan Deming's 12-episode project featuring a movie named for each month of the year. The Los Angeles-based Tomah native is spending his month screening the latest installment in 17 locations across Wisconsin. All 12 films in the "Year Project" will be set in Tomah. F or Deming, it's a way to give audiences a peak at the characters and locations that make his hometown special.

Flutist Genevieve Eichman grew up in Trempealeau before spreading her musical wings via Peabody Conservatory and the University of Paris-Sorbonne. She returns to southwestern Wisconsin as the featured soloist in the La Crosse Wind Symphony concert on Feb. 2.
