Candidates for La Crosse mayor debate ahead of historic election

In-person absentee voting is now open in the race to decide who will become the next mayor of La Crosse. Voters can turn in absentee ballots in advance, or vote in person on Election Day, Tuesday, April 1. Regardless of the outcome, the results of the election will make history. Chris Kahlow is the current president of the La Crosse Common Council and has been a business owner and real estate investor. If elected, she would become the first woman to be the city's chief executive.

La Crosse residents are already filling out absentee ballots and casting early votes ahead of the primary election on Feb. 18. In addition to the statewide race for the state superintendent and an open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, La Crosse residents will cast votes for mayor, city council and more. With four candidates in the nonpartisan mayoral primary, the top two will face each other in the general election on April 1st.
'February' film makes Wisconsin tour

The short, independent drama " February" is the second film in director Nathan Deming's 12-episode project featuring a movie named for each month of the year. The Los Angeles-based Tomah native is spending his month screening the latest installment in 17 locations across Wisconsin. All 12 films in the "Year Project" will be set in Tomah. F or Deming, it's a way to give audiences a peak at the characters and locations that make his hometown special.
Flutist looks forward to musical 'Homecoming' with La Crosse Wind Symphony

'February' is hot at Wisconsin Film Festival

An independent film by Wisconsin filmmaker and Tomah native Nathan Deming is getting some good buzz following a big win at the Wisconsin Film Festival. " February " has been honored with the festival's Golden Badger Award. Nathan Deming is the film's writer and director. He says he wants his films to show a slice of life in western Wisconsin. "The general idea is to tell Wisconsin stories in this larger framework, all set in the same town. They all stand alone," said Deming.

Doyle has a reputation for working across the aisle, even touting himself "Mr. Bipartisan."But this year, he faces an aggressive challenger in Republican Ryan Huebsch of Onalaska. It's a rematch for Huebsch and Doyle, having faced each other in 2022. Doyle says a challenger from the political right won't make him adopt a more progressive agenda.
