A couple has been fined £3,000 after unknowingly driving two Sudanese migrants through Calais in a campervan. Lisa Russell and her partner Geoff Evans from Kent were stopped by Border Force officers in France as they returned from a short family break last October. Ms Russell told the BBC they had "no idea" when the man and teenager stowed themselves into the bike rack of their van, but believed they hid themselves under the bike cover before they arrived at Calais port.

Friends and teammates of a young footballer killed in a crash on the A299 in Kent have come together to raise thousands of pounds for his funeral. Marshall Spelzini died when a lorry in which he was travelling hit a road sweeping vehicle, which had broken down on the London-bound carriageway moments before. The 21-year-old from Deal, who played for Cinque Ports FC, suffered traumatic head injuries in the crash on 25 February, according to an inquest which opened earlier this week.
