GREER, S.C. (WSPA) – There’s a fire department in the Upstate that many people probably don’t know exists, but one of its stations sits right off I-85. Around 100,000 vehicles pass one of the BMW Group Plant Spartanburg fire stations each day. The automaker, which has grown over three decades from its main facility in Greer, has it’s own fire department. “I like to say that every building is like its own little inner city,” Fire Chief Geoffrey McLean said.
