At the time of Bradley Nowell’s death, Sublime was already a popular band, but their self-titled third album, which was released mere months after Bradley’s death, vaulted the group to new heights. The self-titled album sold over 5 million units and featured “Santeria,” which became the band’s biggest song. “[The album] instantly became inescapable,” wrote Stereogum’s Tom Breihan in 2016, the 20th anniversary of the album.
