WESTERVILLE — City Council unanimously voted to confirm the appointment of Holly Murchland to be Westerville’s chief of police on Tuesday. Murchland had been the acting chief of police since November 2024. She has been the Westerville Division of Police assistant chief for more than six years and has supervised all the bureaus within WPD — Patrol, Investigative Services, and Community and Professional Services.

WESTERVILLE — Delaware County commuters into the city will notice Africa Road was blocked off past Polaris Parkway this week. Drivers could still turn onto Polaris Parkway; they just couldn’t continue southbound on Africa from the intersection. However, drivers could still turn right onto Polaris and then turn left to go into Westar.

SUNBURY — Residents may have noticed cranes in the city when they drove along state Route 3 in recent days. That’s because Ohashi is undergoing a 20,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of its existing facility. The company said it is investing more than $11 million on the expansion, which “will increase production capacity and create 20 new jobs.” The build at 99 and 111 Burrer Drive should be completed by year’s end. SUNBURY — The Big Walnut Board of Education unanimously approved the district’s latest five-year forecast at its meeting on May 19, prior to the May 31 deadline established by the state. The passage came while districtadministration spent much time at the past two school board meetings discussing school. School funding concerns were also the main topic of discussion during the public comment portion of the meetings.
