DUBLIN — The Emerald Connector is among the construction projects on the Ohio Department of Transportation’s draft funding list. The draft list was approved last month by ODOT’s Transportation Review Advisory Council. Although the project is in Franklin County, it will impact some Delaware County commuters between Riverside Drive and Sawmill Road. A total of $5 million is being requested from TRAC for the $40.7 million project by Franklin County.

WESTERVILLE — Genoa Trustee Connie M. Goodman has announced she is moving out of the township on April 30. “Over a period of more than 20 years, Genoa Township became enmeshed in my life as I transitioned from volunteer, to advisor, to member of the Board of Zoning Appeals, and later, the Zoning Commission. This progression culminated in eight years of service as Township Trustee,” Goodman said in a press release issued April 10.

GALENA — Last November, voters rejected a fire/EMS levy in Genoa Township. It will be back on the May 6 ballot, with the proposed tax levy as a renewal and increase. “Genoa Township voters must contemplate the possibility of permanent closure of their Fire Department if levy funding is unresolved by the end of this year,” Fire Chief Joseph Ponzi wrote recently. “The current Fire/EMS Levy expires at the end of 2025. If passed, collection of the proposed levy would not begin until January 2026.

POWELL — Zoombezi Bay is currently constructing new rides and dining for the popular waterpark next to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Officials said these additions will reinforce the idea that Zoombezi Bay is “a waterpark with a purpose.” When it opens next month, admission to Zoombezi Bay includes the Columbus Zoo, “and proceeds from the waterpark support the Zoo’s operation and mission,” a Zoombezi Bay news release said.

SUNBURY — The Eastern Delaware County Joint Recreation District held its first regular meeting in the Sunbury Town Hall on April 3. The six members of the district are charged with establishing a community/recreation center within one of its three communities — Berkshire Township, the village of Galena or the city of Sunbury. Together, they represent the fastest-growing communities in Delaware County, with a combined population of 20,000, said Sunbury Mayor Joe St. John.
