BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -After an unsettled weekend, the weather will be turning more active to start the new work week on Monday. A cold front will be coming through from west to east during the afternoon, kicking up showers & thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms could be on the stronger side with some locally heavy downpours. After the cold front moves off to the east, skies will start to clear out for Monday night into Tuesday.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -It was so nice to get the sunshine back again today. And we have a lot more of that in the forecast, along with warmer temperatures. Skies will continue to clear out overnight, and Wednesday will feature lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s . . . just about right for this time of year (normal high for Burlington is now 77 degrees).

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -We have a fantastic stretch of very summerlike weather ahead as we make the transition from the month of May into June. The first weekend of June will feature tons of sunshine, especially on Saturday. A few clouds will mix in later in the day on Sunday. Both days will feature temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s. We'll keep those temperatures around right through the middle of next week as a large area of high pressure stays in control of our weather.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -We have a delightful stretch of weather ahead of us as we make the transition from May into June. A large area of slow-moving high pressure will be in control of our weather right through the weekend and into the start of next week. High pressure brings fair weather, and that is just what we will be getting. And it will be getting warmer, too. The only glitch in the forecast will happen overnight tonight in our far southern areas.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -The unsettled weather pattern that we have been in the last few days will continue through the weekend and into the middle of next week. That means more clouds, more scattered showers, but also some sunny breaks from time to time, too. Also, there is a good chance for a good display of the aurora borealis (northern lights) tonight. And the good news is that the clouds may break up enough in our northern areas to get a good look at those northern lights.

After a chilly, blustery Thursday, we are headed for a chilly, blustery Thursday night. Wind chills by Friday morning will be in the single digits above and below zero around daybreak on Friday morning.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -This last full day of winter had pretty typical weather for this time of year - a bit chilly and unsettled. But we have been so spoiled lately with all that warmer-than-normal weather that we are not used to what is "normal" for mid-March. Most of Tuesday is still officially winter. Spring begins with the occurrence of the vernal equinox at 11:06 PM. And, ironically, we will be going even further backwards into more winterlike weather.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -The new work week will get off to a fairly quiet start, but there will be some winter weather action as we go through the week. A weak cold front will kick up a few flurries in our far northern areas on Monday, but they won't amount to much. A strong coastal storm will be bringing some heavy snow to southern New England Monday night into Tuesday. Our southern counties will get in on some of that snow from the outer fringe of that system.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -For most of this winter, we couldn't buy ourselves a sunny day. And now we have nothing but sunny days . . . at least for the last 3 days in a row. And we're not done yet. There will still be plenty of sunshine over the next couple of days, but there will also be some clouds mixing in - nothing serious, though. And temperatures will be coming up by the end of the week, too, getting into the 40s for highs for most of us.
