    OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Violent crime on BART is down by 23 percent, according to the BART Police Department. East Bay Congresswoman Lateefah Simon, along with the BART Board of Directors and the BART Police chief, were in Oakland Wednesday for a station tour and train ride to evaluate safety and security improvements. Rep. Simon, along with BART board members, BART’s general manager, and police chief, gathered at the 19th Street station Wednesday afternoon.

    MILL VALLEY, Calif. (KRON) — As we head into the warm weather months, firefighters want to get the message out now about wildfire preparedness. It’s a message that’s already familiar to many North Bay residents. Mill Valley resident Richard Cole knows the drill about creating defensible space around his home to make it more fire resistant. That is exactly what firefighters statewide are urging people to do. “You know the safety space, the fire space, you know that kind of thing,” Cole said.
