One of the most memorable moments of this off-season for Seahawks fans was the night of February 9th. John Schneider had made the big decision to hire Mike Macdonald as the new head coach just ten days earlier, and the newly minted duo had immediately turned their attention to what would probably be their next most important hire. Rumors had started spreading about Ryan Grubb leaving Alabama to come back to Seattle even after he had been announced to Crimson Tide boosters as their new coordinator.

The Seahawks don't have a QB controversy. What they do have is a good QB room. To be clear, I'm not saying that Seattle has Matt Hasselbeck and Dave Krieg penciled in as QB2 and QB3. But an awful lot of teams wish they were in the position the Hawks are in after the first week of preseason. Like the Chargers, for one example. It can be tempting to read too much into the first preseason game, and the Seahawks' win over the Chargers is a perfect example of that.

There is no real reason for Sam Howell to supplant Geno Smith as the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback in 2024. Smith has been Seattle's full-time starter for two seasons. The team made the playoffs in one of those years, and Smith led Seattle to an 8-7 record in his starts in the other. Howell was a full-time starter for the Washington Commanders for just one season and he threw far too many interceptions and was sacked too many times.

The New York Jets are planning to cast a wide net in their pursuit of a veteran quarterback and that could mean a reunion with a familiar face.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reports the team is exploring the possibility of bringing back Geno Smith among their options at pivot.
Smith, 32, was originally drafted by the Jets out of West Virginia with a second-round pick in 2013.
