Beowolff Capital Management Ltd, an investment company founded by ex-Goldman Sachs partner Andrew Wolff, has acquired 65% of the shares in the online data company Artnet. The investment company already owns a majority stake in Artsy and aims to create a “portfolio of market-leading companies to enhance scale and drive collaboration and profitability,” according to a press release. The voluntary takeover offer values Artnet at around €65m, at €11.25 per share.

The sale of luxury goods in China slumped in 2024 by an eye-watering 18% to 20%, according to the consultancy Bain & Company, bringing to an end a period of “exponential growth” in the country. The art trade has suffered as well, with the Art Basel/UBS report citing a 31% drop in sales in 2024 in China, booting the country into third place in the line-up of the biggest markets.

A new fund managed by Art Dubai and overseen by the UAE government aims to boost the Emirate’s presence in the global art market by offering homegrown galleries a cash incentive to participate in international art fairs. The new International Art Fairs Grant was launched earlier this year by the government’s Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. Under the scheme, eligible galleries in Dubai can apply for the grant to support up to 50% of stand costs at an international art fair.
