A 25-year-old man was fatally shot by police Tuesday afternoon inside a Brownsville apartment after allegedly brandishing a knife and advancing toward officers responding to a domestic dispute, police said. NYPD Chief of Housing Charles McEvoy said the shooting happened around 2:57 p.m. inside 108 Christopher Ave., part of the NYCHA Glenmore housing development.

A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD. Police said the shooting happened around 5:05 p.m. near the intersection of Home Street and Tinton Avenue in the Morrisania neighborhood. The teen was found with a gunshot wound to the head and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals, where she was pronounced dead, officials said. Her name has not been released as officials were still notifying her family, according to police.

The city Department of Transportation is kicking off a community-led effort to redesign the Conduit corridor in Brooklyn and Queens, one of the city’s most dangerous roadways, with the goal of improving pedestrian safety and reducing traffic crashes. The three-mile stretch between Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn and Lefferts Boulevard in Queens has been the site of more than 40 serious injuries and five deaths in the past five years, officials said.

The telecommunications outage occurred around 3:55 a.m. and lasted for approximately 90 seconds, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.
