Syracuse, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service has issued a rare heat watch for Onondaga and six other Upstate New York counties for Sunday through Wednesday. The potentially record-breaking combination of high temperatures and sweltering humidity could make the air temperature feel like 105 degrees, the National Weather Service said. That can cause severe heat illness for people working outside or who have no way to cool down their houses.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Upstate New York is on the brink of a heat wave starting Sunday that is expected to combine record temperatures with ultra-high humidity levels. Not only will the air at times feel like 100 degrees or more, but nighttime temperatures will remain hot, preventing buildings and people from cooling off. All of that heat and moisture will put much of Upstate New York, including Syracuse, at “extreme” risk from the effects of the heat, according to the National Weather Service.
