Syracuse, N.Y. — The backyard spat between two Section III boys lacrosse teams has spilled over into the top of the state Class D rankings. Skaneateles (9-2) has flexed its way into the No. 2 spot in that class in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association poll, released Tuesday. The Lakers were previously No. 4, but moved up after beating LaFayette/Onondaga last week. The Lancers previously had a foothold at No. 2, but after falling to Skaneateles dropped three slots to No. 5.

Rite Aid is closing all of its stores after filing for bankruptcy, including 178 locations in New York state. The pharmacy chain has not set exact closing dates for all of its stores, which are expected to either close or be sold to a new owner over the next few months. However, time is running out to use gift cards, coupons and rewards. “Rite Aid will no longer honor Rite Aid gift cards or accept any return or exchanges beginning June 5, 2025,” the company’s website says.

Monster trucks are revving up for more fun in Syracuse. Monster Jam will return to the JMA Wireless Dome at Syracuse University on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025. The action starts at 3 p.m., but the fun kicks off with a Pit Party at 10:30 a.m.Tickets go on sale to the public Tuesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. An advance presale for Monster Jam Priority Customers is currently ongoing. Tickets are required for all attendees ages 2 and older; costumes are not allowed for guests 14 and older.

What is yacht rock? It’s a “joke,” according to a famous singer who’s often lumped into the music subgenre. Daryl Hall, best known for his work with Hall & Oates, told the "Broken Record" podcast that he hates being called “yacht rock” and resents the people who came up with the term. “This is something I don’t understand. First of all, yacht rock was a f---ing joke by two jerk offs in California and suddenly it became a genre,” Hall said. “I don’t even understand it.
