EUGENE, Ore. — Native American totem poles up at several Eugene 4J schools will soon be removed after complaints of cultural appropriation by indigenous community members. The poles, which were constructed by students and primary carver Vic Hansen have been up over the last several years at North Eugene High School, Spencer Butte Middle School, Madison Middle School, the 4J Education Center auditorium, and at Bailey Hill School.
