SALEM, Ore. — A unanimous vote by an Oregon house committee this week gives the green light to a bill designed to facilitate property tax reform in the state. Approved Tuesday to move forward for a house vote, HB 2321 looks at options to reform measures 5 and 50, which were designed to cap government spending, and were instituted more than three decades ago. The League of Oregon Cities said it's a small step in the right direction for a process that could take decades.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — An Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) aerial training Thursday helped ground firefighters learn to communicate with aerial firefighters ahead of wildfire season. The full-day training is the first through a partnership between Weyerhaeuser and ODF. It brought out about 20 ground firefighters and several pilots to orchestrate wildfire water bucket drops -- with the aim of preventing injuries to civilians on the ground and to ensure the water gets to its target.
