CAHOOTS union members and former employees are looking for a new way to keep their decades-old emergency services alive in Eugene after the city ended its contract Monday. Leaders with CAHOOTS hosted a town hall Thursday night at the University of Oregon to get the public's feedback following the City of Eugene's decision to end its partnership with the mental health crisis outreach program.

EUGENE, Ore. β Coming off one of the worst wildfire seasons in Oregon history, Pacific Power is stepping up its Wildfire Safety and Preparedness Plan. A big part of the utility company's plan to mitigate wildfires includes strengthening systems, communications, and being aware of the weather and other fire-related risks. Pacific Power says it's building 200 new weather centers in Oregon this year and launching a 24/7 weather intelligence center in Medford to monitor.

LOS ANGELES β A native Eugene woman who graduated from North Eugene High School is sharing her heartbreaking story after losing her home in the Eaton Wildfire in Southern California. Christy Herington says she and her 20-year-old daughter were sitting outside their home in Altadena on January 7 when they first saw the glow of the fire on the horizon. Because of the fierce winds, it didn't take long for them to lose power and receive an evacuation notice.
