    A Peterhead man feared he would never walk again following a cliff jump gone wrong while on holiday tin Aviemore. Harris Hamilton, 28, was enjoying a white-water tubing holiday with his family when disaster struck on the River Feshie. The optician had attempted a cliff jump into a pool of water but stumbled on the cliff edge and smashed into a jagged rockface on the way down. Harris knew he was in trouble as soon as he hit the water.

    Three cars have been involved in a crash on Union Street in Aberdeen. Emergency services were called to the busy city-centre road at about 4pm on Wednesday. The incident took place at the junctions with Bridge Street and Union Terrace, outside  the Chaophraya Thai restaurant. Earlier, pictures showed the collision had blocked the street both north and southbound as well as from the Bridge Street direction.

    Almost 400 drivers have been charged after being caught committing driving offences on North East roads this month. Officers have stopped over 800 vehicles so far in a bid to prevent fatal collisions in the region. And they have revealed the staggering number of driving offences recorded – with 399 serious offences reported by Police Scotland. Of those, 272 were caught speeding, 19 were driving dangerously and 22 were found to be under the influence of drink or drugs.

    The new owner of the Old King’s Highway pub on The Green is betting the future of his business on the success of the new Aberdeen market. John Wemyss is managing director of Blinding Pub Group, and recently took the keys of one the Granite City’s most historic pubs. He has big plans for the venue, which he hopes will come to take “centre stage” as The Green develops. Work has now started to transform the premises into an “antique bar with a modern twist”.

The branch on the town’s Ashgrove Road re-opened its doors to the public today after a full-scale renovation. To celebrate, BK are giving away 1,000 free Whoppers or Chicken Royales to lucky customers for one day only.
