    Some Jewish parents in Vancouver will be keeping their kids home from school on Friday amid an increase in threatening social media posts against the community. Among those is Gabe Garfinkel, who says he's received an email detailing a message from the terrorist group Hamas calling for a worldwide "general mobilization" against Jewish people on Oct. 13. While he's not sure how valid the threats are locally, he tells CityNews he's not taking any chances.

    Those in B.C.'s construction industry are calling on the province to mandate flush toilets at job sites. The BC Building and Construction Trades Council (BCTC) is leading the call, wanting to see a more sanitary alternative to the traditional port-a-potties. Executive director of the council, Brynn Rourke, says they've been advocating for the change since the pandemic began.

    Pharmacists say they are already seeing an uptick in demand for vaccines, just one day into fall COVID-19 and flu shots being offered to British Columbians. For the second year, B.C. residents can book their vaccine appointments at their pharmacies. Chris Chiew, president of the BC Pharmacy Association, says he's expecting a "significant increase" in people getting vaccinated, given the number of bookings made as of Tuesday. "We are seeing a very enthusiastic start to the fall vaccination campaign.

    Mounties in Whistler are advising the public to keep a look out after a grizzly bear was spotted near a local elementary school Wednesday morning. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Whistler RCMP says the animal was spotted on the lower playground of Myrtle Philip Community School. A notification to the public of a grizzly bear spotted earlier this morning in the lower playground of Myrtle Phillips Elementary School. Police and @_BCCOS have been in the area and the bear has not been located.
