    GREEN CITY, Mo. — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 75% of districts nationwide don’t have a policy about highly caffeinated drinks being sold at school. There happens to be one school in northeast Missouri that is doing more than not selling them. Too much caffeine can cause issues such as increased anxiety, heart rate and blood pressure, as well as sleep disturbance, according to hopkinsmedicine.org.

    KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — A detached garage at a Kirksville home went up in flames Wednesday morning. The Kirksville Fire Department was dispatched just before 10 a.m. to a fire at 1216 East Harrison Street. Firefighters arrived at the scene two minutes later. They had the fire put out in less that 15 minutes. Fire Chief Jon Cook told KTVO that the owners of the residence were not harmed. The garage and the two cars that were inside the structure are a total loss.

    ADAIR COUNTY, Mo. — Space heaters are designed to warm a small place, like a bedroom or living room. According to the Missouri Department of Public Safety 25,000 fires and over 300 deaths are attributed to space heaters each year in the U.S."We see a lot of times they're plugged into extension cords and they do draw a lot of power so make sure that you’re plugging it in directly," said Jeremy Davis, fire chief of Adair County Fire Department.
