Herl, a native of Goodland, Kansas, spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at North Texas. The North Marion (W.Va.) High grad eventually moved up the ladder within Don Nehlen’s Mountaineer program, but he understands what it’s like to be on the bottom rung. With his background, he doesn’t like the new NCAA rule that limits FBS rosters to no more than 105 players.

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia’s new men’s basketball coach Ross Hodge continues to stack his roster. Thursday he picked up a commitment from Chance Moore, a 6-foot-6 wing who spent this past season at St. Bonaventure. A native of Brookhaven, Georgia, Moore was a four-star recruit coming out of McEachern High School and was rated as one of the top 100 prospects in the nation by multiple services.

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – On Thursday, the Mountaineer football team picked up its first transfer commitment of the spring cycle when offensive lineman Mickel Clay announced on social media his intention on joining West Virginia for the 2025 season. Clay garnered plenty of interest after entering the transfer portal last December, earning scholarship offers from over a dozen FBS programs, including WVU, Iowa State, Mississippi State and Michigan State.
