Daily Mining Gazette
The Daily Mining Gazette is a newspaper based in Houghton, Michigan, and it serves readers throughout much of the Upper Peninsula and parts of the northern Lower Peninsula. It publishes daily from Monday to Friday, with a larger combined edition for Saturday and Sunday. Originally established in Ontonagon, Michigan, in July 1858 by George Emerson, the Mining Gazette was later acquired by James R. Devereau in 1860. It was then relocated to Houghton, where it initially appeared as a weekly publication under the name The Portage Lake Mining Gazette. The paper transitioned to daily publication on September 14, 1899.
