(WALB)- The Albany Police Department asks the public’s help in finding answers in three unsolved homicide cases. The department made an appeal for information on its Facebook page Tuesday evening. One the cases involves the killing of a man the day before Thanksgiving 2022.

(WALB) - Washington County authorities announced an Albany man’s arrest near a state prison as part of a contraband bust. Washington County deputies say Maurice Stewart, 19, faces a number of charges including two counts of possession with intent to distribute, four counts of items prohibited by the warden, and one count of trading with inmates.

ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) -Governor Brian Kemp said the state’s strong economy and thriving development make it possible for Georgia Power to freeze rates for customers for the next three years. The governor made those comments Wednesday morning, May 21, during a news conference at the state capitol where he touted the state’s booming economy. Kemp stated since 2019, more than 193,000 new jobs have come to Georgia, along with $90 billion investments.

(WALB) - A man accused of murdering a mother and daughter in Smithville will remain in jail at least through 2029 due to an unrelated case, a Lee County judge ruled. Marcus Butts appeared before Judge Jimmie Brown on Tuesday, May 20 in Lee County’s Superior Court. Butts is currently charged in the double homicide of Jessica and Julianna Thompson.

Jones and his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, were last reported as being seen alive on the lake on Feb 8. Search continues for missing metro Atlanta coach, Gary Jones, after his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, (L) was found dead in Lake Oconee on Feb. 9. (WGXA)Later that Saturday, witnesses reported an unmanned boat circling a lake region near Long Shoals boat ramp.
