    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)-Fort Wayne set a new daily rainfall record on April 2nd with 1.51β€³, which nearly doubles a 42-year-old record of 0.83β€³ (1983). The Fort Wayne Airport set a new daily record on April 2. Most areas had well over one inch of rainfall. A weather observer in Huntertown, which is in northwest Allen County, recorded 2.50β€³ Kendallville reported 1.80β€³, closely followed by Auburn and Wabash. Heavy rainfall was recorded across the area.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) –A storm system will move north from the south and clash with arctic air late Wednesday and Thursday creating heavy snowfall and ice across the region. This storm will produce the highest snowfall we’ve seen this season and some areas could see ice accumulation as well. Ice and snow will be possible beginning Wednesday evening15 Fury Alert Days are issued when the weather will have a major impact on our area causing issues that could be dangerous to spend time outdoors.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) β€”Drought conditions have vastly improved this week compared to last week’s drought monitor report. The drought category was reduced from a D1 (Moderate Drought) to a D0 (Abnormally dry). Much of this change is not only based on the last week but what’s called a 28-day streamflow cycle. This biggest contribution to this change occurred at the end of December when Fort Wayne Airport recorded almost 2β€³ of rainfall.

    Share FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) β€”Much of our area is still in the β€˜severe drought’ category on the latest Drought Monitor released on December 5. But there are signs that the drought is easing. Even though most of the area is still considered in a severe drought eastern portions including all of northwest Ohio have improved as the drought eases. Rainfall today (Monday) should help ease drought conditions and shrink the area of severe drought even further.
