GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Many people would say that the first quarter of 2025 was pretty unpredictable for the business community. So, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise when a company misses Wall Street estimates. That’s what happened to Alcon, the global eyecare company with manufacturing and research facilities in Berks County, when it reported first quarter core earnings per share missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 3.9%. EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Board of Supervisors approved a resolution granting conditional/preliminary land development plan approval for Martin Appliance Monday night. The property at 4575 Perkiomen Ave. is located in the Township Commons zoning district. At its April 21 meeting, the Exeter Township Planning Commission reviewed the plans and recommended conditional preliminary land development approval.

ROSELAND, N.J. – On Tuesday, ADP announced that private sector jobs in the U.S. grew by only 62,000 in the first quarter of 2025, down from forecasts of 125,000 new jobs. Then Wednesday morning, the economy received another hammer blow as first quarter GDP declined by 0.3%. As usual, however, ADP, the human capital management company with offices in the Lehigh Valley, suburban Philadelphia, and Northeast Pennsylvania, reported outstanding quarterly results.

EXETER TWP., Pa. – There were several items on the agenda of Monday night's meeting of the Exeter Township Board of Supervisors that pertained to township fire department matters, but it was a non-agenda fire matter that provided the most dramatic moments of the meeting. Fire Chief Chris Jordan reported that early Monday morning, the Exeter Township Fire Department was called to assist with a house fire in neighboring Robeson Township.

EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 Monday night to approve the conditional final land development plan for the former Lorane Nurseries property. Metropolitan 9 LLC sought the approval to develop a 216-unit apartment complex located along Lorane Road and the Antietam Creek. The property is located in the Urban Residential zoning district in Exeter Township, between Lorane Road and Shelbourne Road.
