EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Police Department took center stage at Monday night's meeting of the township board of supervisors. Det. Sgt. Rocco DeCamillo reported on last year's work done by the detective bureau, which consists of six detectives. Two of the most experienced detectives in the unit are set to retire within the next two to five years, DeCamillo said. "Fraud and identity theft are the lion's share of investigations," he commented.

Township supervisors on Monday night authorized the advertisement for a public hearing for a proposed conditional use of the Stonersville Hotel as a B&B. The hotel on Boyertown Pike in Exeter is closed but may soon reopen as the Stonersville Hotel Bed and Breakfast.

EXETER TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The currently closed Stonersville Hotel on the Boyertown Pike in Exeter Township may soon re-open as the Stonersville Hotel Bed and Breakfast. At Monday night’s meeting of the Exeter Township Planning Commission the commissioners voted to recommend that the township supervisors grant the new owners a conditional use approval. The new owners plan to offer five bedrooms on the second floor with two bathrooms in the hallway on that floor and a half-bathroom on the first floor.

EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Board of Supervisors took two big steps toward bringing a new fire station to the township Monday night. By a 5-0 vote, the supervisors approved the proposed site location for the new fire/EMS station at the former K-9 training area centrally located in the township along Gibraltar Road. EXETER TWP., Pa. – Truck inspection details are helping the effort to enhance roadway safety, Exeter Township's police chief says. During Monday night's board of supervisors' meeting, Exeter Township Police Chief Matthew Harley described the truck inspection efforts of his department, which he says includes what is called a "weigh-in-motion" scale. Harley said Exeter is the only police department in Pennsylvania to have this permanent scale to check the weights of trucks.
Sale of former Promenade property falls through in Exeter

EXETER TWP., Pa. – The sale of the Promenade property in Exeter Township has fallen through, solicitor Chad Schnee told the board of supervisors Monday night. Schnee said a pending sale of the Promenade property through the Berks County Redevelopment Authority is no longer operative, and the redevelopment authority continues to look for other buyers. "While things were looking very, very optimistic —there was a buyer lined up — that particular sale did not go through," the solicitor said.
