Nick Kleiner, founder and CEO of the Bristol-based group told Restaurant’s R200 conference yesterday (5 March) that advanced talks about a franchise agreement that would see Sandwich Sandwich open three sites in Dubai are ongoing. It comes after Kleiner, who launched Sandwich Sandwich back in 2010 as Cotham Sandwich Co., confirmed to Restaurant in a recent interview that the group was exploring possible international growth. “We have discussions, we talk to everyone,” he said.

Aram is billed as a new Syrian café and deli from Alarnab, who is known for his eponymous Imad’s Syrian Kitchen restaurant in Soho, and will serve a menu of bakes, salads, lunch and breakfasts that draw on flavours from across the fourteen provinces of Syria. Open from 8:30am to 6pm seven days a week, it will overlook Somerset House’s River Terrace and operate across four rooms within Somerset House, which celebrates its 25th birthday this year.

Set to open in the autumn, Blacklock Birmingham will take over the ground floor of St Philip’s House, which overlooks Cathedral Square on St Philip’s Place.
